Our Mission Director

Robin Churchill
Robin Churchill is a dedicated humanitarian and former law enforcement professional whose career has been defined by a transition from protecting communities in Canada to empowering them in Haiti. His journey is deeply rooted in his Christian faith and a personal connection to the Haitian people.
Professional Background and Transition-
Robin served for 26 years as a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), notably working in the 4 Atlantic Provinces. However, in 2015, Robin and his wife Beth—also an RCMP employee—made the decision to leave their secure careers in law enforcement. This move was prompted by their desire to serve in Haiti after a connection that goes back to 1983 when Beth first visited the country as a teen.
Leadership in Haiti-
Upon moving to Haiti, Robin took on significant leadership roles within the NGO sector:
- West Indies Self Help (WISH): Robin and Beth served as in-country Directors for WISH from 2015 to 2020. Since 2020, Robin travels back and forth several times a year to help the local leadership manage critical infrastructure projects, including the provision of clean water and electricity, as well as job development and food security programs.
- GivePower: Robin also serves as the Haiti Country Manager for GivePower. His work here focuses on sustainable energy solutions, specifically overseeing “Solar Water Farms” that utilize desalination technology to provide clean, accessible drinking water to water-scarce regions through renewable solar energy.
A Foundation of Faith-
Central to Robin’s life and work is his deep-seated Christian faith. Robin has frequently expressed that his humanitarian efforts are an extension of his belief that he is where God wants him to be, focusing on “working himself out of a job” by working alongside local Haitian staff to help manage and sustain the local resources.
Through his unique blend of tactical discipline from the RCMP and a compassionate, faith-driven heart, Robin continues to work in partnership with local leaders in international development and community empowerment in Haiti.

In Recognition of the Life and Legacy of Richard Doan

Remembering Richard "Dick" Doan – Board Member
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude that we honor the life and legacy of Richard “Dick” Doan, who passed away on the evening of February 5, 2026, at the age of 89. Surrounded by his wife and children, Dick transitioned peacefully to be with the Lord he so faithfully served.
A Legacy of Service-
Dick’s impact on the West Indies Self Help (WISH) mission and the community of La Gonave, Haiti, was immeasurable. Alongside his first wife, Donnabelle, Dick served as the Director of WISH for 13 years. Even after his formal tenure, his commitment never wavered; he frequently returned to the island on work teams, continuing to pour his heart and his skills in construction into the mission.
His generous spirit extended across the globe—from the villages of Indonesia to the island of La Gonave—and he remained a devoted leader within the Wesleyan Church at local, regional, and international levels.
A Life Well-Lived-
Born on September 23, 1936, Dick was a graduate of Elbridge High School and Delhi Ag & Tech. He was a man who built more than just structures; he built lasting connections. Known for his winning personality, it was often said that Dick never met a stranger—only friends he hadn’t met yet.
After the loss of his first wife, Donnabelle, with whom he shared over 50 years of marriage, Dick was blessed to find love again. He and Cynthia Ann Doan were married in 2013, sharing a beautiful and happy life together until his passing.
While we mourn the loss of a tireless servant and a dear friend, we find comfort in his unwavering faith. Dick spent his life serving others, and he truly could not wait to be with Jesus.
